Carbon Steel EN 10083-2 C55E Pipe is a medium carbon steel and is noted for being strong and hard. It generally contains about 0.52–0.60% of carbon, 0.60–0.90% of manganese, with trace amounts of silicon, sulfur, and phosphorus. The steel has very good mechanical properties, such as a tensile strength of 700–900 MPa and a yield strength of 450 MPa based on heat treatment. Its Brinell hardness is as much as 250 HB. These characteristics make it ideal for use in applications that demand high wear resistance and strength, with good weldability and machinability under controlled conditions.
