Carbon Steel EN-42 bars contain predominantly carbon (0.70–0.85%), manganese (0.55–0.75%), silicon (0.10–0.40%), phosphorus (≤0.040%), and sulfur (≤0.040%). The tensile strength ranges from 600–800 MPa, yield strength from 350–500 MPa, and elongation from 14–18%. Brinell hardness is in the range of 170 to 230 HB, for applications where a combination of hardness and toughness is desired.
