Carbon Steel EN-44 bars consist mainly of carbon (0.90–1.20%), manganese (0.45–0.70%), silicon (0.30%), phosphorus (≤0.040%), and sulfur (≤0.040%). The tensile strength is 700–900 MPa, yield strength is 500–700 MPa, and elongation is 12–15%. Brinell hardness is 170 to 230 HB, which is found suitable where there is a need for a compromise between hardness and toughness.
