Carbon steel SA214 tubing is made up mostly of carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, and silicon. The content of carbon is usually between 0.30% and 0.35%, and content of manganese is between 0.60% and 0.90%. The level of phosphorus and sulfur is maintained low, typically less than 0.035% and 0.035%, respectively, for improved weldability and lower brittleness. These tubes have tensile strength and yield strength of around 415 MPa (60 ksi) and 240 MPa (35 ksi), respectively, which render them suitable for high-pressure use.
