HB 400 wear-resistant steel plates consist of low-alloyed steel having a content of carbon between 0.25% and 0.30%. The principal alloying elements are manganese up to 1.60%, silicon up to 0.70%, chromium up to 1.50%, nickel up to 0.50%, and molybdenum up to 0.50%. These elements improve the hardness and wear resistance of the steel. Mechanical properties consist of 370–430 HBW Brinell hardness, yield strength of about 800 MPa, tensile strength ranging from 1000–1250 MPa, and elongation of around 10%. All these properties render HB 400 plates ideal for hard impact and abrasive conditions.
